Well....We have good news!
If you didn't already know, both the IRS and Minnesota DO allow you to track and view the status of your refund right online.
Track your Federal Refund:
How it works
Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
How to use the system:
Click the button above or go to https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund
Click the "check your refund" button
Enter the required information
Social Security Number
Select a Tax Year
Enter the appropriate Filing Status for the tax year selected
Enter the EXACT whole dollar refund amount shown on your tax return for the year you selected
Click "Submit"

The next screen should give you information on the status of your refund.

Track your Minnesota Refund:
How it works
The system shows where in the process your refund is. When ready, you will see the date your refund was sent. Every return we receive is different, so processing time will vary.
Information is updated overnight, Monday through Friday. The information in Where's my Refund? is the same information available to our phone representatives when you call.
How to use the system:

Fill in the required information:
Social Security Number
Date of Birth
Return Type
Tax Year
Enter your full refund amount listed on the amended or original return you filed:
Include any portion applied to next year's estimated tax
Round to the nearest dollar
Click "Search"

The next screen should give you information on the status of your refund.

Expecting a refund?
The IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days.
You can check the status of your refund:
E-filed return: within 24 hours after we receive it
Paper return: 4 weeks after you mailed it
You should only call about your:
E-filed return: 3 weeks after you filed it
Paper return: 6 weeks after you mailed it
Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation: 12 weeks for e-filed and 14 weeks for paper return filing
